In Scandal-Ridden Detroit,Many Seek Restitution from Former Mayor Sentenced to 28 Years for Corruption

Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, was sentenced in mid October to 28 years in prison due improper practices while being mayor. The Christian Science Monitor reports that prosecutors want Kilpatrick and his former accomplices to pay $9.6 billion to the city of Detroit which was declared bankrupt. These unethical practices involved kickbacks and bribes to local companies. However I believe these companies are equally to blame because they simply followed along and participated in this. Another example of the immense corruption in this day and age.
