Unknown contributor reviews NY Times article about France banning full veils in public.
France passed a law on April 11 that outlaws wearing full veils in public. By doing that France becomes "the first country in Europe to impose restrictions on a form of attire that some Muslims consider a religious obligation." The law outrages Muslin in France and many protesters have been arrested by not complying with the new law. Police have been instructed to be lenient and issues citations to first time offenders. Supporters view the law as "necessary step to preserve French culture and to fight what they see as separatist tendencies among Muslims."
