From Sewage, Added Water for Drinking

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/27/us/27conserve.html

On November 30th, millions of people will change the way they think when they flush the toilet. Before, when flushing the toilet, the water was turned directly into waste water and was neevr reused. Now, flushing the toilet will be the start of a long and intense process to purify sewage into drinking water. The Orange County water district says this is the largest plant devoted to purifying sewer water to increase drinking water supplies. It is called the Groundwater Replenishment system and it has an estimated cost of $481 million. This facility plans to turn sweage water into clean and safe drinking water which will save millions of gallons of water per year.
