Free online job board and career library available to SUNYIT alumni and students

A new online job-board and resume-database system, with career-related reference materials, is now available that provides access free-of-charge to registered SUNYIT alumni and students, made possible by a licensing agreement through SUNYIT's Office of Career Services and Student Transitions. (Instructions for alumni registration are outlined below.)

Called College Central Network (CCN), this service kicked off in late July 2009 and has replaced the eRecruiting database previously offered by SUNYIT Career Services. CCN allows alumni and students to search online for positions that employers have posted exclusively for SUNYIT, as well as search for jobs available nationwide that are posted daily.

Beyond job postings, CCN offers hundreds of career-advice articles online to help guide career exploration at any stage. Additionally, CCN's Career Advice Video Library is free to all registered alumni. When registering, alumni can also opt-in to receive periodic emails directly from CCN with career tips and job-exploration information ("Email Authorization" opt-in/opt-out section located at the bottom of the CCN online registration form).

For questions or assistance in accessing CCN services, contact Career Services at careerservices@sunyit.edu or (315) 792-7165, or stop by Career Services located in Kunsela Hall, Room B101 on SUNYIT's campus.

Instructions for CCN alumni registration:
CCN requires alumni and students to complete a registration form with required fields before accessing postings for job vacancies. Follow these instructions for online registration by alumni.

Step 1: Go to http://www.collegecentral.com/sunyit (which is the SUNYIT home page on the CCN website) and click on "Alumni."
(Note: SUNYIT is officially listed as "SUNY Institute of Technology-Utica/Rome" by CCN.)

Step 3: You will need to create your own "Access ID" and "Password" for use in accessing the CCN site. When creating your CCN ID and Password, be sure to note the character-length limits. (Note: This information will be stored by CCN on its website; SUNYIT does NOT have access to a person's CCN password.)

Step 4a: Complete the online registration form, making sure to fill in the fields required by CCN as noted by an asterisk (*).
IMPORTANT: As CCN states on the bottom of the form, everything keyed in will appear EXACTLY as entered when potential employers view your profile; therefore, be sure to check for spelling, grammar, and accuracy.

Additionally, under "Email Authorization" on the bottom of the form, be sure to opt-in or opt-out of receiving career-related emails directly from CCN.
