Mechanical Engineering Technology Mission
The mission of the Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) program at SUNYIT is to provide quality undergraduate studies in MET. The goals of the program are to prepare students to enter professional careers and graduate study, and to find employment in their field after graduation. This program values and encourages academic and intellectual achievement of the highest quality and the technical competencies inherent to the field of MET. The faculty is committed to the integration of these elements in a coherent program of higher education.
Program Educational Objectives
The objectives are to provide quality undergraduate studies and:
- Prepare students to enter professional careers and to find employment in their field after graduation
- Provide students problem-solving and hands-on skills with expertise in the fundamental areas of MET
- Provide students added technical depth and expertise in each of the following three areas:
a) Mechanical Design
b) Thermal Sciences
c) Computer-Aided Engineering Graphics
