Electrical Engineering Technology
Electrical Engineering Technology
The Bachelor of Science degree program is currently offered on campus during the day and evening for both full-time and part-time students. SUNYIT's program serves both four-year undergraduates and transfer students.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) program at SUNYIT is to provide quality undergraduate studies in EET. The goals of the program are to prepare students to enter professional careers and graduate study, and to find employment in their chosen field after graduation. This program values and encourages academic and intellectual achievement of the highest quality and the technical competencies inherent to the field of EET. The faculty are committed to the integration of these elements in a coherent program of higher education.
Program Educational Objectives
The core educational objectives of the EET program are to collaborate with industry, business, government, and other academic institutions to ensure graduates:
- Have applied engineering skills necessary to obtain gainful employment in their chosen professional field and the ability to progress to higher levels of responsibility.
- Are equipped with practical problem-solving and hands-on skills rooted in the fundamental areas of EET.
- Become life-long learners through professional development such as continuing education, membership in professional societies, and/or professional registration.
Program Outcomes
EET graduates will demonstrate the ability to:
- Apply analysis and design techniques to existing and new components, subsystems, and systems
- Apply computer programming and application software to existing and new components, subsystems, and systems
- Apply digital and analog electronics to existing and new components, subsystems, and systems
- Apply microprocessors/microcontrollers to existing and new components, subsystems, and systems
- Apply mathematics, physics and sciences to solve technical problems
- Work effectively in small teams
- Prepare and present written and oral reports
- Use and apply project management techniques with a commitment to quality, timeliness and continuous improvement
- Have respect for diversity and knowledge of contemporary professional, societal and global issues.
- Recognize the need for, and an ability to engage in lifelong learning.
