About the ProgramThere is a core set of General Studies courses designed to provide a framework for interdisciplinary study. Understanding Human Nature studies the development of the social sciences and their evolving understanding of what it means to be human. Prominent Themes in Western Civilization examines key texts in a variety of disciplines in its examination of central issues in Western culture since the Renaissance. Contemporary Worldviews traces similar issues through the twentieth century, using sources from history, art, literature, psychology, management and so on. General Studies Project is an independent project in which the student creates his or her own interdisciplinary study, either a long essay based on issues like those in the core, or an applied project that uses the core knowledge indirectly. |
