Gerontological Nurse PractitionerThe Gerontological Nurse Practitioner graduate program and post-Master’s Certificate of Advanced Study are designed to prepare nurses for the highly specialized skills and knowledge required for the care of older adults and aging populations within our communities. Job opportunities for Advanced Practice Nurses in Gerontology are increasing because of the recognition of their unique and valuable contributions to healthcare organizations that employ them. The Master of Science with a major in Gerontological Nurse Practitioner Program consists of 44 credits in required core (9 credits), cognate (11 credits), and specialty (24 credits) areas. Select courses will be offered on campus and the clinicals will be at approved off-campus sites. Students can enter into this graduate program on a full-time basis with program completion within two academic years or on a part-time basis with program completion within four or more years. Courses are taught in traditional and web-enhanced formats with some courses offered either totally or partially online.
