John L. Murad Sr.

John L. Murad was a Justice of the New York State Supreme Court in the 5th judicial district from 1992 until his retirement in 2001. He previously served as an Oneida County Court Judge and as Chief Judge of the Utica City Court. His legal career began in private practice, first at the firm of Bernardi, Zogby and Murad, and later at Murad, Brindisi and Garramone.
He earned a Doctorate of Law from Albany Law School and a Bachelor of Science degree from LeMoyne College. He is a member of the New York State Supreme Court Justices Association, American Trial Attorneys Association, Oneida County Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, and American Bar Association.
He has received numerous honors throughout his career, including a commendation from the Office of Court Administration for improving the court system and a commendation from the Chief Administrative Judge. He has been recognized for service and leadership by Mohawk Valley Community College, where he was adjunct professor of law for seven years; the New York State Assembly; the Utica Common Council; and the Utica Kiwanis Club.
