George Aney
George F. Aney was born in Herkimer County and attended Van Hornesville Central School (now Owen D. Young Central School). He received a bachelor of arts in history from St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y., and attended Syracuse University College of Law from 1957 through 1960. He has been in the private practice of law since that time.
His professional affiliations include: Herkimer County Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, New York State Trial Lawyers Association, American Trial Lawyers Association, and New York State Association of School Board Attorneys.
His community involvement has resulted in numerous awards and citations, among them: Man of the Year Award from the Herkimer County Ukrainian Society, Herkimer Veterans of Foreign Wars Good Citizen of the Year Award, Jaycees Outstanding Young Man of America, B'Nai B'rith Community Service Award, United Cerebral Palsy Association's Caring Person of the Year Award, and the American Red Cross Great Hero Award.
Appointed to the SUNYIT College Council in 2006, he has served as president, director or member of a large number of community organizations' governing boards, including: the Central New York Chapter of the American Heart Association, Herkimer County Mental Health Association, Herkimer County Humane Society, Herkimer County Community College Foundation, and the Central New York Community Arts Council
