1+2+1 Nursing Partnership
Earn two nursing degrees in four years!
The 1+2+1 partnership is intended for high school students who are immediately entering college, following graduation.
The goal of this partnership is to deliver a strong educational foundation developed during your first (freshman) year at SUNYIT. Your educational foundation will be coupled with a hands-on learning approach by enrolling in your second year at St. Elizabeth College of Nursing (SECON); you will complete over 590 hours of clinical time. After graduating high school, a student completing the 1+2+1 partnership can earn two nursing degrees in four years - and live on the SUNYIT campus!
How to apply:
Submit the online SUNY application or the Common Application or call 1-866-2-SUNYIT for a paper application. You will need:
• An official high school transcript
• Your SAT and/or ACT scores
• Two letters of recommendation
• Supplemental Application
Admission to the 1+2+1 Nursing Partnership is competitive, but each application is reviewed on an individual basis to determine your fit and potential for success in this unique degree option.

Why should I pursue this partnership instead of starting in an associate’s degree nursing program and transferring to SUNYIT?
Two-year degree nursing programs are in high demand, and are not typically an option on residential campuses. Joining the SUNYIT-St. Elizabeth’s College of Nursing 1+2+1 Partnership allows you to receive two degrees in four years, where many students have taken 5 years because of the demand to get admitted into the two-year programs.

In addition, students wishing to pursue a BS degree in nursing at a four-year campus have very few options in the SUNY system; they are not typically admitted until after their sophomore year, and only a handful of students who apply to those programs are granted admission. You will take courses your freshmen year at SUNYIT that apply to your two-and four-year nursing degree and eliminate the extra year of waiting on a two-year program’s nursing degree waiting list. Your acceptance into St. Elizabeth's associate degree program is assured by meeting a minimum GPA requirement in a combined curriculum plan for which you are advised by both SUNYIT and St. Elizabeth's nursing faculty. Our nursing partnership ensures that if you follow the course outline and meet the academic criteria beginning your freshmen year, you not only are on a path to get your R.N. licensure, but will be awarded both your associate’s degree and bachelor’s degree in nursing in four years.
