International Initiatives

The School of Nursing and Health Systems embarked on an International Initiative in 2006 when one of the students from the Health Information Management program traveled with students from the School of Business to Turkey to explore their health care system at Yeditepe University Hospital.

In March of 2008, 5 faculty and 17 students from the School of Nursing traveled to Brazil to provide health and humanitarian care to natives along the Amazon River. The trip has been described by many who went as a “life changing” experience.

The students and faculty of the School of Nursing and Health Systems are in the process of developing a plan for future international initiatives.

At the present time, there are plans for another trip to Brazil in December of 2008, to return to the same villages and tribal areas visited in March 2008. If you are interested, or think you might be interested in joining the group going to Brazil in December, you can download the letter explaining the trip and the application form.

Please pay close attention to the timeframe for the application and any other required information. Planning must occur far in advance for these initiatives to be successful.
