Objectives

The The objective is to score the most points based on the number of balloons popped.

Rules

  • Head-to-Head Double Elimination Competition.
  • Scoring is based on the number of balloons popped.  A knockout is scored by popping all of the opponent’s balloons.  In the event of a tie, points will be awarded based on aggression and strategy.
  • Robots must fit within a 1 foot x 1 foot x 1 foot cube at the beginning of each round of competition.
  • Arena is 6 feet x 6 feet x 4 feet high.
  • Balloons will be provided.  Balloons will be approximately 3.5-4” in diameter.
  • Balloons will be attached to the robot by the robot team just prior to competition.  Balloons may not be shielded.  Any balloons that become unattached during the competition will be counted as a pop.
  • While aggression and strategy are important, the goal is not to damage the opponent’s robot.  Teams may be penalized or eliminated for inflicting undue damage to the opponent’s robot.
  • No projectiles allowed.  All components must remain either attached or tethered to the robot.
  • No chemicals, explosives, flammables or internal combustion engines may be used.
  • Judges reserve the right to disqualify any robot that is deemed to be unsafe.
