Design and build at the Showcase a support made from newspaper and masking tape that will hold as much weight as possible. The support must have a Maximum height of 1 3/4, minimum height is 1 1/2. It must be at least 3" across at the narrowest point. It must have a flat top and bottom. a 1" diameter rod must be able to fit through the middle of the support without it touching the support.
The maximum amount of weight the testing device can apply is 300 pounds. If more that one design support will 300 pounds, the supports will be weighed and the lightest support wins.
You will be allowed to use the following tools to build your support.
Scissors
Ruler
Pencil.
Individual or team competition (teams consist of 2 students, only).
