Information for Off Campus Users



Your SITNet ID allows you to access the Library's databases, to request an Interlibrary Loan, and to ask a Reference question from home. This account is different from the Banner account you use to register for classes and check your grades, and it is free to all currently registered students and staff. If you do not have a SITNet account see Information Technology Services' Accounts page. When you have activated your SUNYIT account use the following instructions.

How to use the Library Databases from off campus:
1. Go to: www.sunyit.edu/library
2. Select Databases.
4. Select the database you want to use.
5. You will be asked for your username and password. These are your SITNet ID.

How to request Interlibrary Loan items:
1. Go to: www.sunyit.edu/library
2. Select Interlibrary Loan.
3. Select Online Interlibrary Loan Request.
4. You will be asked for your username and password. These are your SITNet ID. Then click on the Logon to ILLiad button and follow the instructions to order ILL materials.

How to ask a Ready Reference Question from outside the library:
1. Go to: www.sunyit.edu/library
2. Select E-mail a Librarian.
3. Click on E-mail Reference Service.
4. Ask only basic questions having brief answers such as addresses, phone numbers, statistics, referrals, or quick facts. We will respond via e-mail usually within 24 hours during weekdays.

How to check if the SUNYIT Library owns an item:
Use the on-line Library Catalog. From the library homepage, select Catalogs.
