- Abstracts of articles, descriptions and links to websites, and patent information in engineering
- Consider limiting searches to the Abstract or Title fields
- Under "LIMIT BY," change "All document types" to "Journal article"
- Under "LIMIT BY," change "All Languages" to "English"
- Under "SORT BY," choose "Publication year"
- IEEEXplore
- Abstracts and full-text articles from IEEE journals, transactions, and magazines published since 1998
- Choose "Advanced Search" on the right
- To limit your results to items the library owns, under "Publications" select "Search subscribed full-text content only." Don't do this if you're willing to try borrowing items through Interlibrary Loan
- In Option 1, consider limiting searches to the Document Title, Publication Title or Abstract fields
- In Option 2, do more sophisticated searching using nesting, field codes and proximity operators

- After "SEARCHES" click on "Keyword"
- After "Category" change "Author" to "Title"
- Search only for one or two words at a time; you can put synonyms all on one line with OR between them. Put another word with its synonyms on the second line.

- Click on the "Search" button
- Articles from before 1995 will not be full-text; check to see if we own the journal or can Interlibrary Loan the article

- An international catalog of books, websites, maps, etc.
- Click on "Advanced Search"
- Under "Subtype limits" change "Any Content" to "Thesis/dissertation"
- Consider limiting searches to the Title field
- Do simple searches of just one or two words
