The SUNYIT bio is a useful tool that allows for to people look up contact info and brief backgrounds. To begin, go to the SUNYIT Directory homepage (http://web.sunyit.edu/apps/directory). Along the left section of the page, click the button entitled ‘Update your Bio’.
You will then be prompted to enter your SUNYIT User Name and Password. This is the same User Name and Password as your SUNYIT Webmail account.
Once you have entered the correct User Name and Password, click OK, and start editing your bio.
When you are done editing the required fields (not all the fields need to be filled in), click the ‘Submit’ button found at the bottom of the page. If you are not satisfied with what you have entered, you can reset the fields to their original values by clicking the ‘Reset’ button. Once you have clicked ‘Submit’, the following link allows for you to view your changes.
The following categories are found within the ‘Update your Bio’ page:
Displayed Name
This displays what your name will appear as in the directory. Your default name is the one stored in the Banner.
Phone Number
This field pertains to your office/dorm phone number. Your default phone number is the one stored in the Banner.
Fax Number
This relates to your office/dorm fax number. Your default fax number is the one stored in the Banner.
Position
This is a brief description job title/position. It can be no longer than 30 characters and the default value is stored in Banner.
Office
This is your office/dorm room number. The default is stored within Banner.
Location
This is the field that stores where your office resides, i.e. Utica, NY. The default location is stored in Banner.
Abstract
The abstract is a short statement that describes your role at SUNYIT. You can use up 255 characters and may include HTML markup (they will be included in the total length).
Additional biographical text
This field allows for you to write a more comprehensive biography. You are allowed 16 kilobytes of text and may include HTML markup.
