SSH - Connecting
To start a remote connection, first start by running the ssh client application. Most installs leave a shortcut on the desktop. Once the client is loaded it should look like the screen shot below:
Follow these steps in order to connect to SUNYIT's UNIX system:
- click 'Quick Connect' shortcut
- type in shell.sunyit.edu for the host name
- type in your SITNet ID username. The SITNet ID is also known as the SUNYIT computer account.
- click Connect
Once connected to the host, a password prompt will appear like below:
Enter in your SITNet ID password here. The SITNet ID is also known as the SUNYIT computer account.
Once you are authenticated and successfully connected, you will see the following screen waiting at the prompt for user input:
