Sympa Mailing List Manager
The Sympa Mailing List Manager, known simply as Sympa, is the e-mail listserv available at the college. It is located at http://list.sunyit.edu. Everyone who has an active SITNet ID, which is also called the SUNYIT computer account, is registered on Sympa and uses their SITNet ID to login.
Faculty and staff can create and manage lists, students can not. A shared web space for the list can also be created to store files and bookmarks that subscribers need to access. Additional list owners, who can be students, can be established to help manage the list and update subscribers. For example, a club advisor can create a club list and grant list admin permissions to a student club officer.
People who do not have a SITNet ID may also subscribe to Sympa lists, but must first register on their e-mail address on Sympa to obtain a password. The password will be e-mailed to them. They login with their e-mail address and assigned Sympa password.
