Computer Labs

SUNYIT has over 30 computer labs that support academic programs at SUNYIT. Five labs are available to all students and the rest are focused or departmental labs that are only available to students enrolled in specific programs and courses.

Most labs are open building hours during the semester and closed during semester breaks to prepare them for the coming semester. Students are advised to plan course related computing activities while classes are in session to avoid being closed out of labs during the shut down times.

Most labs contain computers running Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP, have high speed connections to the campus network and Internet, and connect to a lab file server for their applications and printing. Instructions for using the lab facilities are posted in the labs. Printing and lab rules apply.

The rules and guidelines have been established to minimize lab and printing problems, control printer waste, extend printer life. Except for a few located in special purpose labs, the printers are configured for letter size (8.5” x 11”) paper. Paper and toner is provided and printing on any other media to network lab printers is prohibited.

Color printing is available for all students from lab G161 Donovan Hall. A couple of computers in that lab have access to the color printer and are labeled to indicate the access. Color printing is also available to all students in Instructional Resources for a nominal fee.

Login Information:
The SITNet ID is the login in the Island labs. The Macintosh lab also uses your SITNet ID to login but you must activate your account to use any iMACs in that lab.
