SFS Backups
Each person's SFS home directory contains a folder named sunyitbackup that contains snapshots of the home directory at specific times during a three week period. The snapshots are images of the home directory including all files and folders at a specific point in time. The end user can copy files from the sunyitbackup folder to other locations such as back to the home directory, to the hard drive, CD, or floppy disk.The sunyitbackup folder is actually a mapping to a location on a different file server. It does not take up space in the SFS allocation and cannot be moved, or deleted from the home directory. Snapshots are organized into hourly, nightly and weekly folders.
The most recent snapshots are taken every 4 hours over a two day period and are put in one of the hourly folders. The snapshot times and folder names are shown below.

The current week's snapshots are taken at midnight Monday through Saturday and are put in the nightly folders. The night the snapshot was taken and folder name are shown below.

Snapshots for the previous week and the week prior to that are taken at midnight on Saturdays and the put in the weekly folders.
