Policies - Community Mailer

Community Mail

The Community Mail system is an electronic broadcast mechanism for SUNYIT messages to the college community via web Announcements and SUNYIT email.

It provides a common interface for direct delivery of Community Mail messages and automated bi-weekly delivery of announcements from the past seven days to specified recipient groups (i.e. staff, faculty, all students, undergraduate students, graduate students, residential students).

All content must be secular, non-partisan and pertain to college operations, functions, and college sponsored events. Community Mail is delivered to SUNYIT email addresses only.

Single Messages

  • Environmental Health & Safety
  • Facilities
  • Information Technology Services (ITS)
  • President's Office
  • Public Relations
  • University Police

Direct distribution of single Community Mail messages is available to designated personnel in the following offices:

For assistance with drafting or editing a proposed message, designees should consult the Public Relations Office. Offices without direct delivery authorization can e-mail their requests to the Public Relations Director.

Web Announcements

SUNYIT Web Announcements are available online at http://www.sunyit.edu as well as emailed in digest form bi-weekly. The postings from the past 7 days in each collection (student, faculty, and staff) are emailed to the appropriate recipient group as a single Community Mail message at 6 a.m. on Mondays and Thursdays.

Posting

The SUNYIT Mailman application is at http://mailman.sunyit.edu. The login is your SITNet ID and password. The posting options available to the user will be displayed. Refer to the instructions for help.

Further Development

Appropriate staff in Information Technology Services and the Office of Public Relations will work to further define and improve existing and developing channels of campus communication.
