New international students will be met at the Syracuse Airport and be transported with your baggage to SUNYIT, Oriskany Hall or off-campus if you have secured an apartment in Utica.

Bring all your documentation and Bank Checks and Money Orders to open your new bank account. If you have account, see you at lunch.

For students living on-campus, or have an apartment off-campus, this is a time to set up your room/apartment. For those looking for an apartment off-campus, this is the time to ride the van and look at possible apartments and select an apartment.

Talk with cell phone reps from AT&T and select a cell phone program that meets your needs.

Help us collect information and required documentation to complete your file. Personal Contact Info, General Info, INS Regulations, Expectations, Maintaining Good Status, Internships, Student Panel, ISS, ISA, etc.

Discuss health topics that are important during your stay in the US. Learn about customs associated with alcohol/drugs, sexuality, dating, etc.

This is your opportunity to learn about the Centro Bus system aboard a bus on a thorough tour of the Utica area. Tour includes shopping, important offices in Utica, train/bus station, shopping mall, area colleges, car dealers, computer and electronics stores, winter clothing stores, etc.

Tour the Library and learn the process to access research materials and how to properly document your sources for papers and research.

Information & Learning Resources, Registrar’s Office and Bursar’s Office will explain the process to register for Fall 2012 classes.

Meet with Academic Advisors to discuss academic issues concerning your program of study.

Get to know your fellow new international students while you spend time learning communication, teamwork, and problem solving skills.

Get off-campus for an evening, out in the country, and meet some returning international students and faculty/staff.
