Film and Video Care
The borrower must demonstrate knowledge of equipment use, unless the equipment is set up by the Instructional Resources Center personnel. Any problems, such as broken films or jammed tapes, should be reported immediately.

DVD and Videotape Collection
The DVD and videotape collection will continue to grow in the future. Students, faculty, and staff may recommend programs for purchase. The principles and guidelines explained in the Library Book Selection Policy will be followed with all acquisitions.

Formats and Equipment
The 16mm films listed here use an optical sound track and can only be shown with 16mm projectors, which are available from the Instructional Resources Center. The videotapes are either 1/2 inch VHS, 3/4 inch videocassettes or DVD, and can be shown on the VCR/DVD players and monitors which are also available from the center.

Other Resources
The library maintains a growing collection of slides, filmstrips, audio cassettes and transparencies for use by the college community.

Regulations
Loans are made subject to the conditions that the DVDs and videotapes will not be altered, shown commercially, or reproduced in any manner. Users are responsible for the cost or replacement footage in cases of excessive damage due to negligence or careless handling.

Scheduling
Requests for DVDs or videotapes may be made by phone, memo, or in person. The programs are signed out in the same manner as other library resources, and the loan duration is two days. The DVDs and videotapes are located in the Library and the playback equipment is located in Instructional Resources Center. Viewing facilities for films and large group video playback are also available, but should be scheduled in advance.

Users

DVDs and videotapes are available for use by students, faculty, and staff of SUNYIT free of charge. The programs are intended for personal or educational use. Users must present a valid college ID when borrowing the DVDs and videotapes.
