What we do, from our most unconscious habits to our most ambitious endeavors, takes place within contexts that give those actions their meaning, purpose, and value. Social and Political Contexts is the Area of Inquiry in which we examine our actions and practices in relation to the social, political, and historical environments that shape how we live. Understanding these contexts enables us to better appreciate how our ways of life express our ideas and values as well as how we can challenge and change our individual actions and social practices so that they better reflect our goals and ideals.
