Mission and Goals
A student’s ability to achieve optimal health includes recognizing the importance of a particular health outcome and understanding the factors that contributed. Optimal health includes choosing to change or modify risk behaviors and develop new and improved behaviors.
Health is not merely the absence of a disease or illness. Health is realizing benefits and consequences to your everyday decisions. Health is individual attempts to achieve wellness through behavior modification. Health is the motivation to improve the quality of your life and the lives of those around you.
The mission of Health Education Services is to provide students with the most valuable, current information that will prepare them to lead healthy lives long after leaving the learning environment as well as:
- To provide the most accurate, up-to-date educational materials
- To provide proper guidance and referrals when necessary and appropriate
- To listen to students concerns and/or suggestions and strive to improve the services provided
- To provide students with the information and tools necessary to experience optimal health
- To make students aware of potential dangers to their health and the proper ways to avoid these consequences
