Citrix Install

Citrix Install

Citrix is a client-server web based connection in which the user is able to use programs available from the server remotely without actually installing them locally. The server will even ask if the user wants to allow the server to connect to the users hard drives in order for saving purposes.

1. Go to citrix.island.edu. Under the Message Center there should be a message about the machine not having the MetaFrame Presentation Server Client for Windows. Click on the download link (MetaFrame Presentation Server Client) and save or open the download.
2. Once the install starts, accept the license agreement. Accept all default installation directories and options. Next, you will see a text field to enter the webserver URL. Enter "http://citrix.island.sunyit.edu" then click next.
3. Levae the Use machine name as client name box checked. Next.
4. Set the option for using local name and password to log on to MeatFrame to No.
5. Once the install is completed you will need to close Internet Explorer and re-open it. Once it is open again, go to citrix.island.edu. and now this time there should be no message under the Message Center.
6. To log in: The username is "citrix" and there is no password. Once logged in, now you can use any of the applications that are available in the list. Just click on them and in a few seconds they will open.

Note: When you click on an application, you may get a window titled "Client File Security". This allows the user to specify whether or not the citrix server is allowed to connect to the client machines hard drives and floppy drive on the local (client) machine. The purpose of allowing the server to connect is so the user can save their work to their local computer. Choose "full access" and "never ask again".
