Financial Aid and Scholarships


Freshmen

Applying for financial aid at SUNYIT is as simple as completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Verification Worksheet (pdf). For more information concerning the affordability of a SUNYIT education, visit Financial Aid, or contact the Admissions Office for a financial aid application packet.

Merit Scholarships
SUNYIT is committed to acknowledging academic achievement through our merit scholarship program. Scholarship criteria include academic achievement as well as supplemental information such as an applicant's essay, letters of reference,and extracurricular activities. Scholarship candidates will be selected from the top ranks of admitted freshmen.

The following freshman academic merit scholarship amounts were awarded for fall 2006:
  • $4,350
  • $2,175
  • $1,000 Presidential
  • $750 Dean’s scholarships
These scholarships are renewable annually provided recipients meet renewal requirements and full-time status at SUNYIT. In addition, $1,000 Residential Scholarships (renewable for the sophomore year) will be awarded with merit based scholarships for any freshman who achieved the graduation rank of High School Valedictorian or Salutatorian and enrolls at SUNYIT that same year. Currently 25% of our entering freshman students receive an academic merit award.

*Awards also include a residential portion which requires recipients to live on-campus to receive full award amount.
