What is SUNYIT's total enrollment?
- Approximately 1,900 full-time undergraduate students.
- Approximately 800 part-time undergraduate students.
- Approximately 600 graduate students.

The campus is set on over 850 acres.
There are ten buildings on campus which include Kunsela Hall, Donovan Hall, the Campus Center, the Peter J. Cayan Library, the Service Center, Mohawk Hall and Adirondack Hall. As part of a substantial expansion in campus infrastructure, a $13 million Student Center, a $20 million Field House and a $23.5 million Residence Hall were completed in 2011.
The next major construction project planned is a technology complex comprising the $27.5 million Center for Advanced Technology and Computer Chip Commercialization Center.
What's the history of SUNYIT? When was it founded?
SUNYIT was founded in 1966 as the State University of New York's only upper-division institution. It was initially located in downtown Utica, and in 1988, the current $60 million dollar campus was completed. SUNYIT is the State University of New York's newest campus.
The SUNY Board of Trustees in February 2002 approved the mission change enabling SUNYIT to offer lower-division programs in professional, technological, and applied studies.
In Fall 2003 SUNYIT admitted its first class of freshmen becoming a full, four-year institution. SUNYIT also continues to offer graduate degree programs, including a unique MBA Technology Management program.

SUNYIT students can enroll in the ROTC program available at Utica College through Syracuse University.
What is the size of the community?
The City of Utica has a population of approximately 60,000 people.
What attractions are near SUNYIT?
Utica is located in the center of New York State and is a natural gateway to the Adirondack Mountains and the Thousand Islands. The area offers over 900 acres of public parks, access to ski areas, and other outdoor activities.
Shopping, sports, and concert venues are only minutes away, and Utica is home to Munson-Williams-Proctor Art Institute, the Utica Symphony Orchestra, the Broadway Theater League, and the Players Theater of Utica.
Is the campus handicapped accessible?
Yes, the entire campus is accessible and we have residence hall rooms designed for students with physical disabilities.
What is the ratio of enrolled males and females?
The ratio is approximately 1:1 with 52% men and 48% women.
Does SUNYIT offer an orientation program?
Freshman orientation is held in August each year. This event allows new freshmen the opportunity to learn about student services, meet with an advisor, and register for classes. All freshmen are required to attend orientation.
Orientation dates and times are forwarded to all newly accepted students in the spring. Registration materials are mailed in late May.

Does SUNYIT have a campus security force?
Yes, SUNYIT has a University Police Department which provides patrol, investigative, and emergency services 24 hours a day. University Police officers will escort students to campus buildings or parking lots, emergency first aid, and provide emergency vehicle assistance. SUNYIT is ranked #1 for campus safety.
Is there overnight housing for prospective student visits?
Yes, on a space available basis. Contact the Admissions Office if you would like to schedule an overnight visit. You can also sit in on and observe a freshman class. Overnight visit requests should be scheduled at least two weeks in advance to arrange housing and class visits.

Is there an ATM or bank on campus?
SUNYIT has a Manufacturers and Traders Trust (M&T Bank) ATM located near the front first floor entrance of the Student Center. There are a number of full-service M&T Branches within a 10 mile drive of campus.
How can I get to campus if I don't have a car?
Students travelling to campus via Amtrak train or bus service (Adirondack Trailways, Greyhound, Bernie Bus Services, Chenango Valley Bus Services, or Utica-Rome Bus Company) should arrive at Utica's Union Station. Taxis are available for direct transportation to SUNYIT. Centro Bus service can also be used via the bus stop on Genesee St./The APAC building which is a short walk from Union Station. The route to SUNYIT via Centro is not direct; plan on a 45-minute ride to reach campus.
