What are the Residence Halls like?
Our residence halls have been consistently rated as one of the highest in the SUNY system. They are comprised of three complexes: Adirondack Hall, Mohawk Hall and Oriskany Hall.
Oriskany Hall, our newest residence for first-year students, opened in the fall of 2011 and offers students:
- A six-person, suite-style living experience featuring spacious common areas joined by a spiral staircase with two-story glass windows.
- Kitchenette, refrigerator, and microwave available in each suite's common area.
- Laundry-view system that notifies user online or via text when machine is available or when laundry cycle is finished.
- Building Management System that displays energy usage by suite promoting self-monitoring and friendly energy-saving competitions.
Adirondak Hall and Mohawk Hall, for upper-classmen, offer students a four-person, suite-style living experience with single and double occupancy bedroom apartment-like living quarters with a shared bath.
All three residence halls provide high-speed ethernet connections for personal computers, fire alarm systems, cable television access, telephone service, complimentary laundry facilities, mail service, adjacent parking, a common lounge with large screen TV, vending machines, and a kitchen.
Are the halls staffed with a professional resident director?
Yes, the residence halls are staffed with a professional Residence Hall Director and student Resident Advisors.
Is a room deposit required to reserve a space?
Yes, students must submit a deposit of $100 to reserve a room.
How are students matched up with their roommates?
Freshmen meet and interact during summer orientation. At the conclusion of orientation, freshmen are asked to fill out a room reservation form which asks questions about roommate preferences, study habits and personal habits. Freshmen may request a student that they have made a connection with during orientation or a friend they already know outside of SUNYIT.
