Scholarships for Returning Students

President’s Opportunity Fund for Student Success Scholarship

The President’s Opportunity Fund for Student Success was established in 2008 to support returning students with demonstrated academic aptitude and performance and/or unmet financial need. As described by SUNYIT President Bjong Wolf Yeigh, scholarships awarded through the fund are intended to support retention of high-achieving students and continued student success.

Eligibility
Only matriculated full-time students at SUNYIT carrying 12 or more credits who are not currently receiving a SUNYIT Merit Scholarship are eligible to apply. Applicants must: have a FAFSA on file with the SUNYIT Financial Aid office; have completed a minimum of 12 credits at SUNYIT; and be upstanding members of the SUNYIT community. First semester SUNYIT students are not eligible for consideration.

The President’s Opportunity Fund Scholarship is a one-year, non-renewable award. The scholarships are awarded on an annual basis in the fall semester; award amounts may vary. The application deadline for 2009-2010 was June 1, 2009. Recipients will be notified in writing of their awards on or about July 1.

Award recipients will be required to provide biographical information to SUNYIT and participate in other scholarship recognition events and/or activities as directed. Recipients will receive an updated financial aid package that must be signed and returned along with the scholarship acceptance form to the Financial Aid Office no later than July 15. In addition, recipients are required to submit their fall semester payment by August 3 to remain eligible for the scholarship.
