Scholarships for Returning Students
President’s Opportunity Fund for Student Success Scholarship
The President’s Opportunity Fund for Student Success was established in 2008 to support returning students who have demonstrated academic aptitude, contribution to the SUNYIT community and/or unmet financial need. As described by SUNYIT President Bjong Wolf Yeigh, scholarships awarded through the fund are intended to support retention of high-achieving students and continued student success.
Eligibility
Only matriculated full-time students at SUNYIT carrying 12 or more credits who are not currently receiving a SUNYIT Merit Scholarship are eligible to apply. Applicants must: have a FAFSA on file with the SUNYIT Financial Aid office (or be ineligible to apply for financial aid due to international status); have completed a minimum of 12 credits at SUNYIT; and be registered full time for fall 2012 by the application deadline date. First semester SUNYIT students are not eligible for consideration.

The President’s Opportunity Fund Scholarship is a one-year, non-renewable award. The scholarships are awarded on an annual basis in the fall semester; award amounts may vary. The application deadline for 2012-2013 is June 1, 2012. Recipients will be notified in writing of their awards on or about July 1, 2012.
Award recipients will be required to provide biographical information to SUNYIT and participate in other scholarship recognition events and/or activities as directed. Recipients will receive an updated financial aid package that must be signed and returned along with the scholarship acceptance form to the Financial Aid Office no later than July 13, 2012. In addition, recipients are required to submit their fall semester payment by August 2, 2012 to remain eligible for the scholarship.
