Confined Space Emergency

No confined space shall be entered without proper authorization and training.

Confined space means a space that the space:

  • Is large enough and so configured that an employee can bodily enter and perform assigned work; and
  • Has limited or restricted means for entry or exit (for example, tanks, vessels, manholes, storage bins, hoppers, vaults, and pits are spaces that may have limited means of entry.); and
  • Is not designed for continuous employee occupancy.
  • All SUNYIT staff and/or contractors must comply with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146 in regards to confined space identification, entry and rescue.
