Many institutions of higher education hold convocation to officially begin each academic year. Attended by students, faculty, and administrators, the ceremony is a reaffirmation of SUNYIT's commitment to the pursuit of knowledge, and the academic, cultural, and social growth of the entire college community.

Nasir Ali is the co-founder and CEO of Upstate Venture Connect (UVC), a non-profit organization building a networked community of Upstate New York’s high growth entrepreneurs and their supporters. In addition to serving as president of The Tech Garden, a not-for-profit organization with the mission of creating an entrepreneurial culture in Syracuse and Central New York, he launched the NYSERDA-funded Center for Clean Tech Entrepreneurship in Syracuse and is the founder and executive director of New York’s first angel fund, the Seed Capital Fund of CNY.
Panelists exploring this year’s theme, “Innovation and Entrepreneurship,” will be: Michael Evke, president and CEO of Eversan, Inc.; Jo Anne Gagliano, president of EDR Companies; Charles Green, president and CEO of Assured Information Security, Inc.; and Robert Hobaica, president and CEO of RJH Group, Inc. Evke, Green and Hobaica are SUNYIT alumni.
