CETL Spring 2008 Idea Laboratories

CETL will open host informal workshops in the month of February. These workshops are designed to help faculty to start thinking about using different technologies in their Fall 2008 classes, and may help to generate ideas for what to apply for when submitting an application for the CETL grant in February. Following is a schedule for the laboratories. Please check back often for additional dates.

>>Faculty awarded technology as part of the spring 2007 CETL grant process provided a demo of the technology at the State of the Campus meeting held on January 10. If you have any questions about the technology that was demonstrated or need more information please either contact the grant recipients or Teresa Washburn in the CETL office.

>> Five SUNYIT Faculty members have been awarded “Individualized Teaching Technology” grants through CETL. The technology requested, including a SmartBoard, Laptops, an iPod, and Voice Recorders — should be in the hands of the recipients by the end of March. The following faculty were awarded grants:

  • Daniel Jones ($1,862): Smartboard
  • Russ Kahn ($1,048) iPod, Webcam, Voice Recorder
  • Carlie Phipps ($1,700) TabletPC
  • Edmond Rusjan ($2,000) TabletPC, Voice Recorder
  • Kathryn Stam ($1,957) MacBook Pro
The Teaching Learning Technology (TLT) Committee, chaired by Dan Schabert and composed of elected representatives from each of the Schools, staff from Instructional Resources and Information Technology Services, the Chair of the Faculty Assembly Technology Committee, and the Director of CETL, reviewed the eight applications that were received.
