Using Drones, Satellites and Lasers to Constantly be Connected to the Internet
Facebook is currently working with companies like Titan Aerospace and Nasa, to develop solar powered drones to beam internet to people from the sky. The idea behind this, is to bring internet to the developing world using these drones along with a number of satellites and lasers. Zuckerberg announced on his personal blog recently, "Today we’re sharing some details of the work Facebook’s Connectivity Lab is doing to build drones, satellites and lasers to deliver the internet to everyone." This announcement confirms any rumors that social media will be accessible to the entire world. The design behind this technology, is to use small scale planes that will be able to power themselves by capturing solar power to the solar panel which will be attached to the top of the drone. Also, the drones will not get disturbed by bad weather since they will be designed to fly at an altitude of about 20,000 meters or 60,000 feet, essentially flying above the clouds.
