Feds open criminal probe into General Motors over recall
Recently General Motors (Owners of Buick, Chevrolet, Cadillac, and GMC) has issued rcalls on a number of vehicles that were made from 2005 to 2007. The reason for this is due to a faulty ignition system that caused the engine to stop, power steering to fail and make the brakes top working. This has already caused a few deaths and is being investigated for a few others. The problem is that they knew about the defect but waited until now to issue the recall.
The reason for the recall may most likely be due to the fact that they only told the dealers about this problem and did not issue the recall then. This would then cause people who went in to get the problem fixed, get their car fixed wrongly. This then caused the death of a girl who had recently tried to get the problem fixed. Only after the family sued GM did they issue a recall for those cars affected by the problem. If Gm issued the recall in the first place as soon as they found out that all these cars had this problem they could have avoided a lot of deaths and court costs.
