Monthly message

Dear SUNYIT Community,

With not much more of summer left, I hope you are taking time to rest, relax and get ready for the new academic year. It's hard to believe that the start of the fall semester is just a few weeks away!

Recently, SUNYIT received some great news that I would like to share with you. We were formally notified by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education that our most recent report has been accepted. This means that SUNYIT continues to be fully accredited until the next formal Middle States visit in 2014-2015. Middle States accreditation is something that all of us—faculty, staff and students—can take great pride in. It affirms and validates all the good work that we as an academic community continue to do.

Coming up, you’ll be hearing more about several exciting initiatives. One, the Center for Global Advanced Manufacturing, is already moving forward; a formal announcement will be made soon. And we're optimistic that SUNYIT projects will again receive favorable consideration from the Mohawk Valley Regional Economic Development Council when round two funding is decided in the months ahead.

Next on our agenda: getting ready for fall! The next few weeks will bring orientation and other activities to prepare everyone for the arrival of new and returning students—and the start of classes on Monday, August 27. As the start of the semester draws near, you’ll receive information about events and activities including our annual convocation ceremony; for now, please save the date: Thursday, August 30, noon - 2 p.m.

Enjoy the last few weeks of summer break. I look forward to seeing you on campus soon!

Sincerely,

Wolf Yeigh
President
