Welcoming the Class of 2016

Ropes Course 2011Members of the Class of 2016 and their parents will be getting to know SUNYIT before the start of the fall semester in August. New freshmen and parents will be on campus August 23-26 for orientation, and classes start Monday, August 27.

"The emphasis at orientation is connecting new students to faculty, staff and the campus," said Marybeth Lyons, assistant vice president at SUNYIT, "and it’s a learning experience for parents as well."

For new transfer and graduate students, orientation sessions were held over the summer. For freshmen, orientation includes a variety of sessions with faculty and staff, and activities designed to help new students get to know the campus—and each other. More than 210 freshmen are expected to attend SUNYIT this fall.

Following the start of classes on August 27, convocation—the formal ceremony marking the start of the academic year—will take place Thursday, August 30, at noon. This year's theme is Technology Innovation.
