Harsh Punishments Meted Out to New Orleans Saints for “Bounty” System

Sean Payton, head coach of the NFL team the New Orleans Saints recieved a one year suspension and the team lost a draft pick after an investigation found out about a bounty system where players were awarded cash prizes for injuring opponents, specifically quarterbacks.  The Saints were also fined $500,000.  The commissioner stated that the bounty system was unacceptable and the punishment must show that it will not be tolerated.
