Health & Culture Fair November 15
SUNYIT will hold a free health and culture fair for students, faculty, staff, and the general public on Tuesday, November 15, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., in the Campus Center. With a theme of "Harvest Your Health . . . Be Thankful for the Wellness Opportunity," the event will include presentations and exhibits on a variety of health topics, and displays representing twelve cultures.
Exhibits will offer information on topics such as depression and counseling services, obesity, marijuana use, binge drinking, and tobacco use. Displays by community agencies will focus on domestic and sexual violence, sexual health, eye health, reflexology and massage therapy, and various health services available in the community. Cultural exhibits will represent the health customs, practices and beliefs associated with Amish, Jewish and Native American cultures and countries such as China, Mexico, Poland, Russia, Somalia, Bosnia, Japan, Vietnam and Ukraine.
The event will emphasize wellness promotion and is sponsored by the Health & Wellness Center and the Department of Nursing & Health Professions. The Student Association will sponsor a blood drive in the Campus Center from 10:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Donors should call the American Red Cross, 315-792-7135, for an appointment; walk-ins are also welcome.
