Reducing Stormwater Runoff
This article describes various ways to help reduce stormwater runoff that people can use everyday.
Stormwater runoff is when water from storms flows across impervious surfaces such as roads, sidewalks and roofs. Stormwater runoff can be bad sometimes because when it runs across certain contaminated surfaces it can pick up pollutants which should not be in the water and can harm people.
There are a few ways to reduce stormwater runoff that people can do everyday. One thing that can be done to help reduce pollutants in runoff is to use pavers when making driveways so that the water can just permiate into the ground. Another thing that can be done is to use sand as a deicer instead of salt and then just sweep up the sand after its melted. There are numerous other ways similar to these to help reduce pollutants in stormwater runoff.
