Skyrocketing Wastewater Treatment Costs
This article discusses the dramatically increasing costs of wastewater treatment, and where the funding comes from. There is an anticipated problem with funding the rising cost of public water and wastewater treatment. Local governments are paying for most of the required upgrades. A minimal amount of the funding comes from natonal government, but this is in the form of loans that must be repaid. Therefore, the cost is being passed off to residents. Taking into account the anticipated repair and expansion costs taking place in the next 20 years, it is expected that the cost per household will double (at the minimum) up to potentially quadrupling.
This is an issue that should be addressed, since an increase in costs to this degree is unreasonable. With inflation and other living expenses on the rise, it's likely that families will be unable to support these increases as well.
