NH wastewater plant disks now wash up in Andover
After a wastewater treatment plant upstream overflowed in March, hundreds of thousands of metal discs used to process wastewater are not washing up along the Merricmack River in Andover, NH. 400,000 discs have already washed up with another 200,000 on the way. Overall, up to 8 million discs are scatter throughout the Merrimack River.
I just don't understand how people can allow something as simple as excess runoff to cause such a catastrophe. The plant should have been designed for longer storm event and/or a greater intensity. Poor engineering judgement was used when the plant was designed.
