GE's "Zero Liquid Discharge" Treatment System
Russell City Energy Center (RCEC) will use GE's zero liquid discharge (ZLD) technology at their 600-megawatt natural gas plant, GE has announced. RCRC will be the first build plant in the US that involuntary agrees to meet stricter limits on greenhouse gases and other emissions, imposed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. During construction process the ZLD system will be used onsite for wastewater treatment and recycling. ZLD system used 400 gallon-per-minute brine concentrator and mixed-salt crystallizer and skid-mounted design to reduce field construction costs. The ZLD will be powered by clan natural gas, which is more fuel efficient than fossil fuel generating stations. RCEC's power system will capture the exhaust heat from gas turbines to produce additional electricity.
