Hawaii's Doubling Up
For the past 35 years Kaua'i County Waimea Wastewater Treatment Plant has been efficently serving the West Side of the island of Kauai's resdents and businesses. Due to a growing population, and therefore growing wastewater production, this Plant recived a very much needed upgrade to a capacity of 700,000 gpd from its previous capacity of 300,000 gpd. This plant, which was built in the 1970's, had been operating at 90% capacity for many years and with this upgrade it will have a great deal of room to spare along with a large enough capacity to serve the community for decades to come.
