Olympics and Wastewater Sustainability
One place that many people may not expect to see the use of highly sustainable wastewater treatment would be at the 2010 winter olympics in Vancouver, BC, Canada. This couldn't be further from the truth; the Vancouver Convention Center is equipped with a sophisticated drainage system that reuses rainwater for toilet flushing and landscape irrigation, as well as on site water and wastewater treatment to limit the building's impact on the local environment. This system uses a combination of an advanced membrane bioreactor for greywater and blackwater treatment and ultrafiltration membranes to guarantee exceptional water quality and clarity.
