Green Bridge Restores Nullah
The Anandnagar nullah which flows throught the highly populated area on the Sinhagad Road was successfully restored using a green bridge technology. The river was very poluted and with the use of this technology the polution was decreased to 70%. The green bridge uses local materials such as sand, soils, and baterial mixtures to filter the water. The system was put up in a 2 to 3 kilometer stretch with metal screens to filter large waste material, and filter that are 2 foot high to trap the pollution. This ecosystem has been used in other nullahs as well and has been very effective in filtering pollution.
