Money Flowing in for Wastewater and Water Treatment
After the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act was passed in 2009 by President Obama, money has began to start flowing in for water and wastewater treatment. $6 billion dollars was deligated to municipalities, wastwater agencies, and utilities to help with the treatment of wastewater and drinking water. $2 billion went to water treatment and distribution while $4 billion went to wastewater treatment infrastructures. The ARRA is intended for states to use 50% of the money for contsruction and no less than 20% for green projects. Green projects must include water efficiency, energy efficiency, green infrastructure, and environmentally innovative projects. New projects have sprung up all over the United States with money going to improve wastewater plants and the processing that go on within these plants.
