Game-Release Party honoring James Silva '05 '07: Sat. April 18, 7 p.m., Campus Center
The SUNYIT community and general public are invited to The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai Game-Release Party with free food and give-aways on Saturday, April 18, 2009. Join the SUNYIT Alumni Association and friends of James Silva '05 '07 in honoring Silva, whose latest game, The Dishwasher, was made available on Xbox Live Arcade this month.
The event begins at 7 p.m. in SUNYIT's Campus Center main lobby, with a keynote address from Silva and a panel with Silva's friends and fellow alumni who helped him develop the game. Following the presentation, attendees will have an opportunity to play The Dishwasher and some of Silva's Xbox Live Community Games.
Food will be served at approximately 8:00 p.m. during the game-playing portion of the event. Additionally, door prizes will be awarded, with all attendees who sign-in at the event receiving raffle tickets for the drawing.

Silva, who earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in computer science at SUNYIT, became an international sensation when he won Microsoft's Dream-Build-Play international game-design competition and was featured in numerous media outlets, including CNN.com and Wired.com. Silva, who currently resides near the SUNYIT campus in Marcy, NY, had his first major book published last year, and in September 2008 he received the SUNYIT Alumni Association's Outstanding Young Alumni Award.
